Hi everyone,

Welcome to the monthly news in lactation in Australia.

We are very excited for the upcoming release, during the month of September, of our brand-new book, Breastfeeding: A Practical Guide. This is the up-to-date replacement of our long serving book Breastfeeding…Naturally. It will be a membership inclusion for all personal members and available for sale separately as a hard copy for $44.95 and also as an eBook – RRP to be confirmed.

Who will be at the Australian College of Midwives conference in September – we will! Looking forward to saying ‘hi’ to those that will be there. Susan and I love a chat so come and see us at the ABA stand. We will have copies of Breastfeeding A Practical Guide there with us, with a special offer for those who join as a Professional member or renew their professional membership.

During August, our bushfire project team were thrilled to be able to attend the Australian Disaster resilience Conference in Brisbane. They were able to have useful discussions with many speakers and fellow attendees and spread the word regarding our report. To access the report and find out more about our federally funded project, Community Protection for Infants and Young Children in Bushfires visit the resources page here.

Our next workshop will be delivered online on Saturday 7 October.  Register today for ‘Sleep & Settling: Coping with the challenges of becoming a breastfeeding mother’ by visiting https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/health-professionals/health-professional-workshops

This is my last newsletter as the Senior Manager for Breastfeeding Information and Research, I made the difficult decision to resign from this role that I have thoroughly enjoyed for the past four years. I will remain at ABA as a volunteer. I have some exciting things to go on with next year, including hopefully commencing a PhD (application in process).

I wish you all the very best with your work supporting mothers, babies and their families with breastfeeding and thank you for your commitment to ABA. Health professionals working together with the peer support of ABA is so important. I know I will still see many of you around the place over the coming years, so it isn’t good-bye.

Thank you for all your ongoing support,

Naomi Hull
