Hello everyone

Hope you are all drawing on your reserves to get through to the fun bit in the festive season. I have been hearing that some people plan a short holiday before Christmas! Might be something to think about.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that registration for ABA’s 2026 Health Professional Seminar series: Breastfeeding: care that continues is now open! This series will continue the high standards you expect from ABA, bringing together engaging and innovative thought and practice leaders via three live seminars held in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne and a separately curated online program. You can see more details here on our professional website. Register today!

Also, a quick heads up for something happening soon. ABA is launching a new online Breastfeeding and diabetes module for expectant mothers impacted by diabetes.

The module will be accessible at anytime, anywhere, and includes key information on preparing and learning to breastfeed with diabetes.

Stay tuned, more details to follow in next month’s edition of professional express!

And just to finish up I wanted to mention ABA’s Festive Appeal. We are often reticent to promote the ABA appeals to our professional members and supporters, and I certainly won’t be giving you the hard sell here. But my take is that health professionals are exactly the folks most likely to really understand what ABA is about and what we do and to value our work.

You know that ABA volunteers support so many breastfeeding mums and families on their breastfeeding journeys. That every day, new parents reach out to us looking for reassurance, information and connection. Sometimes they’re anxious. Sometimes they’re exhausted. But always, they’re seeking the kind of understanding that only another parent, or someone who’s been there before, can offer.

So, we warmly invite you this festive season to give a gift that lasts far beyond the holidays and support mums through the small wins that make a big difference to them along their breastfeeding journey.

Best wishes

Jen Hocking
