Hello everyone

Just wanted to tell you about a change in name for the ‘feature articles’ we publish in all our Professional Express e-newsletters. In the 5 years we have included feature articles in Professional Express, we have had a huge range of topics and also a big range of people writing them for us. Remember that ABA Professional Members can access the whole list of feature articles that have been published on the member portal.

The name of this section will now change to: ‘Breastfeeding in Focus’.

If you would like to contribute a ‘Breastfeeding in Focus’ piece of writing on a topic related to breastfeeding, we would be delighted to consider it for publication. Writing for us gives you an opportunity to reach a key audience: health professionals who are working every day with breastfeeding babies and families. We welcome articles on a (breastfeeding) topic you may have already researched or are otherwise expert in. Of course, you can refer to your own research work and publications in whatever you write, but you don’t have to be a researcher to write for us.

You will note that this edition of Professional Express has a piece from The Conversation. The Conversation actually provides a good model for what we are looking for: no more than 1000 words, clear language, referenced where appropriate and a topic that is interesting to our readers. Email us at: professional@breastfeeding.asn.au to pitch your idea!

In other exciting news, ABA’s The First 72 Hours e-modules for pregnant women and their partners is now available in its full glory FREE with Virtual Village membership. We have already had great feedback on this resource from mums and health professionals alike.

We share things you wish new mums knew … what the first 72 hours are really like, the reason why colostrum feeding is different to breastfeeding later on, how newborn babies behave, how to get rest, what really matters and how to find your own style and rhythm as a new mum.

The taster is still available here for you to have a look at and of course we would invite you to mention The First 72 Hours package to pregnant mums in your care.

Looking forward to receiving all your writing ideas!
