Hi everyone
ABA is racing into 2025 with all our usual programs and events and our biggest event for health professionals is upon us now – Our Health Professional Seminar Series began this week in Sydney and continues in Melbourne and Perth. If you have not yet registered for one of the four venues it’s not too late! Don’t delay. Go to the registration form here and remember to use the code for this last minute live special offer: CUthere
And guess what? I WILL see you there. I am presenting, but also I will be lurking around the ABA trade table too and also making compelling short videos – watch out! Please come and say Hi to me and let me know your brilliant ideas for how ABA can better serve health professionals. Set me straight about yours and your colleagues needs, and I will be very happy and also responsive.
Two more special events for ABA in March – one for health professionals and one for families.
In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day in March ABA is hosting a free webinar for expectant and new parents who have a baby with Down syndrome. Health professionals are also welcome to attend.
The 1.5-hour webinar will be held on Tuesday, 25 March, 7:00pm (AEDT).
It will include information about breastfeeding a baby with Down syndrome and include a Q&A segment with a new mum with lived experience. Click below to book now and share the link with someone you know.
And, appropriately, in Multiple Birth Awareness Week (16 to 23 March) ABA is running a Multiples Breastfeeding Preparation Session! The webinar is scheduled for Saturday, 22 March, 12:00pm (AEDT).
Please share the link below with those women and families you are supporting who are expecting multiples and it would also be fantastic if you could mention it to your colleagues who are working in multiples clinics.
I have attended these sessions, and they set the excellent standard you would expect from ABA. All the information is comprehensively covered in the 2 hours, but also with time for questions and to hear from a mum who is there to tell her story of breastfeeding multiples and to answer real-life questions from participants.
In the class we discuss steps for a comfortable feed, normal newborn behaviours around feeding and where to get help and support. We use detailed videos of newborns feeding to help our attendees understand what good attachment is, discuss common challenges and how to know when the babies are getting enough milk.
P.S. I will also be attending the PSANZ conference in Brisbane on the 17, 18 and 19 March. Come and see me at the ABA table for a chat if you are there too!
