Hello everyone
I have two big news items, so let's get on with it.
First of all, enrolments in ABA's 11451NAT Diploma of Breastfeeding Management are now open!
Maybe you have considered enrolling in this course previously and it wasn't the right time for you, or maybe you were not aware of this course at all, or maybe you hadn't really considered doing more study so you didn't really think the Diploma was for you.
I would like to gently spruik the diploma course now. Scroll down if it's not the right time for you.
To quote a friend of the (ABA) show, Dr Nina Chad (Infant and Young Child Feeding Consultant, World Health Organization), when presenting at the 2024 ABA Health Professional Seminars was heard to describe ABA's national, recognised, accredited breastfeeding courses (yes that includes the Diploma) as setting the international gold standard for health worker education.
But don't just take Nina's word for it, the Diploma course offers a unique opportunity for participants to build their skills and knowledge across a broad range of topics including the anatomy and physiology of human lactation, management of common breastfeeding problems, providing counselling to support breastfeeding, and protecting and supporting breastfeeding.
There is inbuilt flexibility in the course to help you complete it, including remote learning options. You can learn much more here, including expectations of study time and completion timelines, as well as more about the competency-based training approach utilised in the Diploma.
We need more health professionals with excellent knowledge and skills in breastfeeding. Please think about this course as a way to turbo-boost your practice.
Next is a save-the-date for ABA's 2027 Health Professional Seminar series. Yes, already. The theme next year is Breastfeeding: challenges to confidence. Here are the states and dates: Sydney – Monday, 1 March; Brisbane – Tuesday, 2 March; Melbourne – Friday, 5 March; and Perth – Saturday, 6 March.
The online program will be available from 31 March to 31 May 2027.
