On 23 February the World Health Organization and UNICEF launched their groundbreaking report on the $55 billion formula milk industry. This report outlines the exploitative marketing tactics of formula milk companies with case studies on eight countries. The report looks particularly at the highly targeted digital marketing companies use to take advantage of mums and families when they are most vulnerable. You can view the full report here.

This beautifully coincides with the kick-off of ABA’s campaign to see the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (the WHO Code) implemented in full in Australia. Implementation of the WHO Code ensures all families can make informed decisions about infant and young child feeding based on objective factual information free from the influence of aggressive and confusing marketing.
