Hello everyone

ABA’s Bushfire Project Team are in Sydney this week for AFAC24 (Australia and New Zealand’s annual national fire and emergency services conference). The team are presenting ABA’s work in the Eurobodalla (NSW) supporting the community and local organisations to improve their planning for infants and toddlers in emergencies. With a poster, a presentation and a stall in ‘Resilience Lane’, the team are busy chatting to emergency responders, community workers and health professionals about how we can work together to protect young children in emergencies such as bushfires, cyclones, floods and storms. To learn more about the project and resources, register for our online resource launch event in November.

It is no secret that the Australian Breastfeeding Association relies on well-informed health professionals to share information about ABA’s support and services for families during pregnancy (to prepare to breastfeed) and after they have had their baby (for support, reassurance and to connect with others).

Yours are trusted voices and we owe you a great deal of gratitude for the work you do for us – and for the families you meet.

I am delighted to share with you that we want to repay some of that great work ….

For the next two weeks (offer ends 15 September) we are gifting all NEW ABA Professional Members a FREE Hard Copy of our well-known book Breastfeeding: A Practical Guide.

We have received a loud and clear message from health professionals across Australia that they LOVE this book. Whether it’s talking through some of the information with a family they are caring for or refreshing their own learning on a specific topic – HPs say that it is great to have ABA’s clear and concise breastfeeding information all in the one place and in their hands – rather than on a screen.

I would say more about the value of ABA Professional Memberships here … but I know you know how membership brings you into the ABA inner circle of current breastfeeding information and resources.

If you are still considering your commitment to ABA professional membership, PLEASE sign up to be a subscriber. While this doesn’t give you all the benefits of membership, it does keep you in touch with what ABA is offering – both for health professionals and for the families you are working with. We want you to be close!

Of course, we are looking forward to seeing lots of new professional members in the coming weeks. We also hope you will enjoy your new book. You may even want to suggest to your families that they purchase a Virtual Village Plus membership – which includes an e-version of Breastfeeding: A Practical Guide. I might even suggest that they think about getting a hard copy…!

Once again – thanks for all you do to help support mums and families achieve their breastfeeding goals.

Warm regards

Jen
