The Australian Breastfeeding Association has a long tradition of providing high quality evidence-based breastfeeding education for health professionals and we offer a large range of CPD options for all health professionals. Whether you are likely to be providing care or working with breastfeeding mothers and babies in the maternity care system daily – ABA has curated opportunities for you.

Health Professional Seminars

ABA hosts an annual program of health professional seminars that travel to four Australian capital cities and feature a line-up of engaging speakers. A bonus online program is included when you register for the live seminars or can be purchased separately and includes five additional presentations and recordings of the live seminars. These seminars are designed to enhance your current knowledge, gain new skills and network with colleagues.

Diploma of Breastfeeding Management

ABA’s diploma is a nationally recognized accredited course and is designed with your needs as a health professional in mind. This course will further develop your skills and knowledge in lactation support.

The course content is delivered by a team of ABA experts and requires completion of 12 units of study which is achieved by combining self-directed study, one day workshops and assessments for each unit. There are a range of flexible study options to support you to successfully complete this course, including distance education.

Accredited eLearning modules

ABA offers professional development eLearning modules to help you engage in best-practice breastfeeding support for mothers and families. Our library has over 30 titles which are constantly updated and are presented in a variety of engaging formats via our Learning Management System (LMS). These include interactive modules, video presentations with expert expert speakers and quizzes. ABA can also design or customise modules for your specific educational needs, delivered online or face-to-face.

Health Professionals Workshops

ABA hosts weekend workshops for health professionals every month on a diverse range of topics from breastfeeding research to medications and breastfeeding. Workshops are delivered live online by expert presenters and can be half day, full day or two days duration.

Supporting the Breastfeeding Mother in the Neonatal Period eModules

Access eight interactive learning modules based on Baby-Friendly Health Initiative competency principles. These provide eight hours of CPD and suit both novice and experienced clinicians and can be completed flexibly on a device of choice.
