Hi everyone,
We are rapidly approaching that time of year when we all come together to raise awareness of and to galvanise action to protect, promote and support breastfeeding in World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2021. The theme this year is to ‘Protect breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility’.
I am definitely preaching to the choir here as I know that you all understand the importance of supporting breastfeeding mothers and their babies, but I do hope that you are taking small (or large) steps to share what you know with others and working to strengthen structural enablers for mothers.
There is quite a bit happening here at ABA especially during WBW. The most exciting (for me) is the launch of our new Student Professional Membership – only $48 with all the inclusions minus the hard copy of Breastfeeding Review and Essence. All new student members up to the 15th August, 2021 will receive a hard copy of our ‘Introduction to Breastfeeding’ booklet.
The Global Breastfeeding Collective is hosting a ninety-minute webinar during the week introducing new tools and resources to support implementation of recommendations on providing skilled breastfeeding counselling to all women during the first thousand days of their children’s lives.

Our well-known textbook Breastfeeding Management in Australia: 5th Edn will be reduced by 20% for non-members ($176) and 30% for members ($154)– find details here.
You would have heard about our awesome podcast series produced by our own volunteers! We are so proud of this resource and recommend you check it out as a great tool for passing on to your clients. They will thank you for it. It is available on most podcasting platforms. We have a few new episodes on top of our first series that came out late last year including a new one set to drop in WBW.
If you are doing something to celebrate WBW please share what you’re up to on social media and tag us @ozbreastfeeding plus add these #WBW2021 #WABA #ProtectBreastfeeding #SharedResponsibility #breastfeeding #SDGs #worldbreastfeedingweek2021 #ProtectBreastfeedingaSharedResponsibility #protectbreastfeedingtogether #buildingbackbetter #warmchain4breastfeeding #breastfeeding4publichealth
Please take care everyone in these challenging times,
