Storing and using expressed breastmilk
Situations can arise when mothers need to express breastmilk.
Expressing can be useful when:
- the baby is premature
- to relieve engorgement, blocked ducts or mastitis
- when the mother returns to work/study
- as part of a strategy to help increase milk supply
- to collect milk for feeding in the mothers' occasional absence
